Privacy
Keep only what is needed.
United Earth is designed to collect as little personal information as possible.
Mailbox of the World
When the mailbox form is available, your letter is delivered privately by email to United Earth. It is not published or added to the Living Book or Atlas automatically.
You may write without giving your name or email address. An email address is required only when you ask for a reply. Messages are kept only as long as needed to read, respond, protect the service, or meet a legal obligation, and are then deleted.
Cloudflare Turnstile protects the form from automated abuse. United Earth does not create a visitor account or store a separate database copy of mailbox letters. Cloudflare may process connection information to deliver and protect the service.
The Wall of Us
While the Wall says Preview, nothing you type into the Wall form is sent to United Earth.
In the protected private review, moderated text submissions are enabled. The Wall collects only the trace you choose to submit, its category, writing style and color, and — if you choose to add them — a public name or initials and a city/country.
Drawings and voice notes remain device-only previews. They are not uploaded or stored. The Wall states this before either tool is used.
We do not ask for a street address, precise location, phone number, email address, account, or profile in order to leave a trace.
A safety report stores the selected reason and an optional short note. A reported trace is hidden while it is reviewed.
Why it is collected
The purpose is to review a trace for safety and, if approved, publish it as part of the Wall of Us. A trace is never published automatically.
Your choice
Name or initials and city/country are optional. Before a live submission is sent, the Wall asks you to confirm that you understand the trace may be published after moderation.
If you are under 14, please ask a parent or guardian to submit a trace with you. The Wall asks for this confirmation before a live submission, but does not store your age.
Please do not put contact information, a home address, or other private details inside the trace itself.
Bot protection and storage
When live submissions are enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile is used to protect the form from automated abuse, and Cloudflare D1 is intended to store moderated traces. United Earth does not store your IP address in the Wall database.
Cloudflare may process connection information, including an IP address, to deliver the site and protect the Wall from abuse. The prepared Wall hashes the edge IP only for short-term rate limiting and does not write that IP to the Wall database.
Cloud services may process technical information outside Québec depending on their infrastructure.
How long traces are kept
In the prepared moderation system, pending traces are deleted after 90 days if they have not been reviewed. Rejected or removed traces are deleted after 30 days. Approved traces remain on the Wall until they are removed.
Cloudflare D1 also maintains provider-level point-in-time recovery for a limited period. A deleted trace may therefore remain recoverable in that system until the provider retention window expires.
Removing a trace
A live submission receives a private removal key. Keep it if you may want to remove that trace later. You can also ask United Earth for access, correction, or removal at mailbox@unitedearthproject.org.
Privacy questions and requests
The person responsible for privacy at United Earth can be reached at mailbox@unitedearthproject.org. You can use this address to ask a privacy question, request access or correction, request removal, or raise a privacy complaint.
No advertising profile
The Wall is not designed for likes, rankings, followers, advertising profiles, or behavioral targeting.
This page will be updated before any new kind of personal information is collected.
